Dr Linda Smith PPSWA
Kent Artist | Egg Tempera & Gold | Nature, Icons & Conservation
Dr Linda Smith is a Kent-based artist whose work explores empathy, compassion and the impact of human activity on the natural world.
Working mainly with traditional materials including egg tempera, gold, ink and graphite, Linda creates richly detailed works that draw on icon painting, natural history and contemporary environmental concerns.
Her current practice brings attention to people and animals facing hardship, with a particular focus on endangered species, habitat loss, poaching and climate change. The work carries a quiet moral intensity, inviting the viewer to look closely and reflect on our relationship with the living world.
Alongside her artistic practice, Linda holds a PhD in Chemistry. She studied glass art at City Lit, completed postgraduate study at Central Saint Martins, and trained for two years under Peter Murphy in religious icon painting.
Linda is a past President and current council member of the Society of Women Artists. Her work is held in private collections across the UK and overseas, and she has exhibited widely, including at the Mall Galleries and Menier Gallery in London.
