About
Gregory McAlpine
Contemporary Printmaker | Traditional Techniques with Experimental Thought
Gregor McAlpine is a Scottish printmaker whose practice spans linocut, woodcut, collograph, and lithography—blending classical printmaking techniques with contemporary approaches. He studied at the Leith School of Art and later completed both a BA (Hons) and MFA in Printmaking at Edinburgh College of Art, where he is currently undertaking PhD research into the future of printmaking.
Gregor’s work explores the intersection of tradition and innovation, using print, drawing, film, and writing to express layered ideas and visual narratives. He has taught printmaking at Leith School of Art for over a decade, leading workshops that make the medium accessible, engaging, and relevant to new generations of artists.
